Seven Supreme Court justices told the United States Postal Service it cannot change how it handles mail ballots forty nine days before an election. Justice Brett Kavanaugh, appointed by President Trump, wrote that the rule may well be lawful and that the county clerk still cannot put it in place by November 3. So the rules for this election are set. A court can be out of time. A law never is.
That is the whole case for the SAVE America Act, and Jenny Beth Martin tells the story of where the bill came from: a coalition conference call with Senator Mike Lee about Arizona, and the loophole the Supreme Court left behind in 2013. Arizona's answer was two ballots. Prove citizenship and you vote all the way down to precinct committeeman. Do not prove it and you still vote for president, Senate and Congress.
Then the money, and the people who pay to change American policy without going through the voters.
