Pfaff's answer is blunt: the Democratic Party platform is unilateral control of the United States, and the Democratic Socialists of America are simply saying in public what the party has pursued quietly for decades. He walks through California's elections and why he believes they cannot be meaningfully monitored, the constitutional guarantee of a republican form of government, and his argument that members who openly reject the Constitution should not be seated at all. He closes on the Soviet Union, which held elections for its entire existence that meant nothing because the power brokers in Moscow controlled everything.
Jenny Beth's response: there is no such thing as a free lunch, and what the socialists are actually offering is a free ride to a race to the bottom where everyone is equal, equally miserable, and equally without opportunity.
