One Year After Charlie Kirk's Assassination: Live the Way He Lived | Jenny Beth Martin

Charlie Kirk, one year later. She was cleaning up from a rally in the pouring rain when she heard. Here are the three things she asks of you.

One year ago, Tea Party Patriots Action finished its Only Citizens Vote bus tour with a rally on Capitol Hill, delivering petitions urging the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act — the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, which went by a shorter name back then. It poured rain all day and they held the rally anyway. Jenny Beth Martin went back to her hotel room, got cleaned up, and came out to the news that her friend Charlie Kirk had been taken from his family and from this country.

This is what she has to say about it a year later, and it is not a eulogy. It is an assignment, in three parts, and each one is something Charlie Kirk actually did rather than something he said.

He studied and then he acted. He read the great books and taught himself what made this country work, so that he could turn around and teach other people and get them off the sidelines. He studied the Bible, accepted Christ, and then spent his life bringing other people to the same place. And he studied what it takes to be a good husband, a good father and a good son, and he lived it every day in front of everybody, which is why Erica Kirk is able to honor that love now.

So her ask is specific. Go back and study the founding principles and the economics, so you can apply them to the fights in front of you today. Read your Bible and let Christ be part of your life. Love your family in a way they will have no doubt about. And then get to work, because Election Day is a few weeks out.

She also draws a line that is worth hearing. A lot of people will tell you Charlie would have said this or that about the news of the day, and nobody actually knows, because he is not here to weigh in. What we do know is how he lived from the time he was 18 on. Even when the Senate does not pass the SAVE America Act, even when it does not go your way, you do not give up on this country.
