Dr. Kat Lindley was born in Croatia when it was still Yugoslavia. She grew up under Josip Broz Tito, where her family was Catholic but not supposed to say so out loud. At 18 her family put her on a ferry to Italy with one suitcase. Her hometown was attacked the next day. She built a new life in Italy, then England, then the United States, went to medical school on the suggestion of a doctor whose children she was raising, and became a board certified family physician in Texas and the president of her state medical society. Then COVID arrived, and she says she started recognizing things she had already seen once before.
