Dr. Kat Lindley was born in Croatia when it was still Yugoslavia. She grew up Catholic under Josip Broz Tito in a household that was not supposed to talk about church, and at 18 her family put her on a ferry to Italy with one suitcase. Her hometown was attacked the next day. She built a life in Italy, then England, then the United States, went to medical school because one of the physicians whose children she was raising asked her why she had not, and became a board certified family physician in Texas and the president of her state medical society. Then the lockdowns came, and she says she started recognizing machinery she had already lived through once.
