Deported Once: The Gang Member Who Came Back Was Put on Probation by a Judge | Agnes Gibboney

Deported once, back again, arrested again, and put on probation by a judge: an angel mom lays out every chance the government had to stop him.

Agnes Gibboney's son Ronald was 29 and standing in a driveway when a gang member came out of the dark and fired. In this clip she lays out, step by step, how that man got there. He had a long history of arrests and an alien number. He had already been deported, through Otay Mesa in San Diego. He came back, nobody knows how or when, and was arrested for inflicting bodily injury on his girlfriend. He spent two or three weeks in jail, and a judge released him on probation instead of turning him over to immigration. A few months later, Ronald was dead.

Agnes is a legal immigrant. When her family came from Hungary by way of Brazil, they were told that if you break the law you can be deported. Her question for every politician is the one she asks here: why wasn't this man? Jenny Beth Martin adds the names the country already knows, Laken Riley and Kate Steinle among them, and makes the case that the problem is not that crime happens; it is that our own government failed its citizens and allowed lawlessness to exist, and lawlessness spreads. To the people who tell Agnes it could have been anyone who pulled that trigger, she has an answer: it could have been, but it wasn't. And to the politicians who look the other way, she has a question about their own children that is hard to hear and harder to forget.

Agnes Gibboney is the founder of Angel Families of America. This clip is from her conversation with Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party movement and Chairman of Tea Party Patriots Action.
