On Friday the Justice Department charged 16 people in 7 states with voting in elections they had no right to vote in, 8 of them noncitizens living in Texas. Prosecutors found most of the cases years after the ballots were counted, while looking at something else entirely. The same week, a federal judge told Ohio it cannot ask for proof of citizenship when someone registers at the motor vehicle office, and Ohio's registration closes in 14 days.
