Georgia is a swing state now, and Carmen Bergman says the way Georgians move through their ballot has changed with it. At the top of the ticket, Rick Jackson leads the Republican slate and polls better than most of the candidates below him, in large part because he has the resources to close the information gap with voters. Further down, about 50,000 Georgia voters stop and never finish. Every constitutional office is on the ballot this year with Governor Brian Kemp term-limited, along with every seat in the state House and state Senate, a United States Senate race, the governor's race and the constitutional amendment questions. That is a long ballot.
In this segment of The Jenny Beth Show, guest host Robert McNeily, in for Jenny Beth Martin, asks Bergman what Greater Georgia, the organization former Senator Kelly Loeffler founded in 2021, is doing about it in the 13 days before early voting opens on October 13. The answer is registration, education and mobilization, and a voter guide at KnowYourBallotGA.com that runs from governor to the amendment questions and shows where each candidate stands on the issues Georgians say they care about.
The conversation closes on election integrity. Bergman points to recent reporting that pieces of Georgia's ballot records could be put together to work out who cast which ballot, and to the response: swift action from the Secretary of State, and the Georgia Republican Party and the Republican National Committee calling on the State Election Board to act. Her rule for the next 34 days is that election integrity is never one and done, and if you see something that does not look right, flag it for the Secretary of State's office or for Greater Georgia.
