Pink is pro-choice. Jenny Beth Martin and Father Frank Pavone are not. So why are they standing with her? Because she called out antisemitism on the Ed Sheeran tour and was left standing alone.
Macklemore, a rapper performing on Ed Sheeran's tour, used a New York concert to talk about free Palestine, on top of a 2014 costume that looked like an antisemitic trope. Stadium owners said he would not perform in their buildings, and he is now off the tour. Pink, who is Jewish and pro-choice, urged Ed Sheeran not to put Macklemore on stage. She named the costume, she named October 7, and she is now under fire for standing up for Jewish people.
Jenny Beth Martin says this is exactly what the whole hour has been about. Pink saw something, named it and had the courage to call it out. You can disagree with someone on almost everything and still stand with them when they share one of your values.
Father Frank Pavone, founder of Priests for Life, agrees completely and explains why. A coalition is stronger the narrower its goal, and standing with Israel is essential for Christians for two reasons. First, Israel and the Jewish faith are part of Christianity's DNA. Second, those who hate Israel and our Jewish brothers and sisters do not hate Christians any less. First they come for the Saturday people, then they come for the Sunday people. The enemies of Israel are enemies of Western civilization altogether.
