SAVE America Act: Trump's Veto Leverage & Supreme Court 6-3 Wins | McNeily, Pfaff

[00:00:00] It's summertime and hot outside, but Washington, D.C. is frozen. The Senate left town for two weeks without passing the one bill that they have 50 votes on and that the American people want by more than 50 by more than 80 percent, the Save America Act.

[00:00:15] And this week, President Trump increased the pressure on the Senate saying that he would not sign the housing bill unless the Senate and the House, for that matter, went back and added the Save America Act to the bill. His message is simple to every single senator. You want your priorities passed? Pass the Save America Act. I'm Jenny Beth Martin and this is The Jenny Beth Show.

[00:00:54] Welcome to The Jenny Beth Show. Trump said he would withhold his signature from the housing bill, but there's a catch. There's always a catch, isn't there? This time it's that the Speaker of the House has now transmitted the bill officially to the White House. That means that if the President does not sign the bill in 10 days, it will automatically go into effect.

[00:01:18] And this may well be our very best and last leverage point to get the Save America Act passed before the August recess. So we've got to get in a way that we could get 60 senators to vote for it. So that means the time is of the essence for all of us to take action. There are two specific steps for you to take right now throughout the weekend and early next week.

[00:01:44] The first and the most important step is to contact the White House and President Trump and let him know, let President Trump know and his staff that you want him to veto the housing bill unless it has the Save America Act attached to it.

[00:02:02] So you can go to whitehouse.gov forward slash contact to leave a comment on the White House for the White House saying that you want President Trump to veto the see the housing bill unless the Save America Act is added to it.

[00:02:20] Then after you do that, go on to social media, go on to X and especially go on to truth social and tag President Trump at real Donald Trump and make sure that you say that you appreciate everything the president is doing.

[00:02:38] And, you know, he loves the country and, you know, he loves the country and wants what's best for the country and tell him to veto the housing bill, which was the bill Elizabeth Warren has championed until and unless the Save America Act is added to it. Make sure that you are tagging at real Donald Trump as you do this so he is able to see it. And I urge you to use truth social as you're leaving those messages on social media.

[00:03:04] Then after you do that, you need to call your congressman, your congressman and your senators and tell them to pass the Save America Act as well. The phone number on Capitol Hill, you know, this number, I've said it a hundred times now. It's 202-224-3121, 202-224-3121.

[00:03:29] And if you don't want to make a phone call and you'd rather send an email, then just go to pass the Save America Act dot com. Again, that's pass the Save America Act dot com and click take action or you can click the button that says call the Senate. When you do that, it takes you to a form that will allow you to send an email to your senators and your congressman. So let me just recap this. President Trump has said he will withhold his signature on the housing bill.

[00:03:59] If he does not sign that bill within 10 days, it is going to go into the effective law anyway. So we need President Trump to veto the housing bill and get him to urge the Congress to put the Save America Act back on the housing bill. Go to White House dot gov forward slash contact and leave a message with the White House.

[00:04:23] Then go on to Truth Social and on to X, tag President Trump at Real Donald Trump and urge him to veto the housing bill until and unless the Save America Act is added to it. He's already said that he'd withdraw his signature. And several weeks ago, he said he would veto this bill if it did not have the Save America Act added to it. So we're urging him to do what he's already said that he will do.

[00:04:52] After you do that, go to pass the Save America Act dot com. Click take action and email both of your senators and your congressman and tell them to add the Save America Act to the housing bill. And you might as well, while you're at it, go ahead and tell them to add it to the FISA bill as well. Keep pressing. Don't let your foot off the metal. We have to keep working hard off the pedal. Don't let your foot off the pedal. We have to keep working hard to get this bill passed.

[00:05:21] Now, in other news, this week is a South Dakota state Republican Party convention. And Scott Pressler is there. He had a ticket to a dinner last night. He purchased a ticket to the South Dakota Republican Party dinner and he had a ticket like the other people who are going in. He was refused entry into that dinner. Senator John Thune was speaking of the dinner and going to be present.

[00:05:50] And a sergeant at arms refused Scott entry. I'm pretty sure the sergeant at arms was a volunteer, but he he was very rude. He cursed Scott Pressler and he refused him entry. I learned this morning that that sergeant at arms has been fired by the state Republican Party chairman. And I'm glad that that happened. No sergeant at arms needs to be cursing at fellow Republican leaning activists and conservatives. That is absurd and rude behavior.

[00:06:18] What's even more concerning is that last night on video, we heard the chairman of the Republican Party in South Dakota say he did not think Scott Pressler was a threat. And I can tell you because I have traveled with Scott Pressler to several different states this year, including South Dakota. I can't imagine him doing anything but being peaceful and respectful.

[00:06:40] So I also would say I have no reason to think he's going to do anything that would put the senator in harm's way or would even do anything like lead a a champ booing the senator. That's just not Scott style. He's very, very peaceful and respectful, respectful, respectful while being firm about what he wants and representing what we all want to to to the state party in South Dakota.

[00:07:08] And he would have to Senator Thune. So the state Republican Party chairman said he didn't think Scott was a threat, but that he didn't want to do anything that would get in the way of Senator Thune's security. And he mentioned he said he couldn't take on cap secret service. What I think that he meant was Capitol Police, not secret service. Here's what's so alarming about that.

[00:07:33] It means that someone on Senator Thune's staff was working with people inside the state party. Presumably most of the people in the state party are volunteers and refused to allow Scott Pressler to have entry. And that was coming from Thune's camp. And that message was conveyed to his security detail. That is ridiculous. It's absurd.

[00:07:57] And it's a way to protect the senator and keep the senator from hearing from what the grassroots want. And honestly, isn't this just what you would expect? The United States Senate is completely out of touch with the grassroots base. And they think they don't need to listen to us. And they think they don't even need to be in the same room as us. What Senator Thune and his staff did last night is horrible. It is disrespectful.

[00:08:25] It's disrespectful to the constituents, to his own constituents who wanted Scott Pressler in that room. It's disrespectful to the state party because now the state party is embarrassed on social media. And it's disrespectful. His attitude that he exhibited to Scott is representative of the attitude he's exhibiting to all of us. He just has contempt for us.

[00:08:51] He doesn't want to do what we are urging to have done, which is to pass the Save America Act. So it shows us just what he's like, but it does not mean we cannot keep pressing to get this bill passed. And I think it means it's even more important that we are urging President Trump to veto Elizabeth Warren's housing bill unless they go back and attach the Save America Act to it.

[00:09:19] Democrats in the Senate and in the House voted for this. What I would say is rather a Marxist bill led by a socialist Marxist senator. They voted for that. So go back and add what 80 percent plus of the American people want. Proof of citizenship to register to vote and voter ID. This is a leverage point. It is a point where Democrats clearly want this legislation to pass.

[00:09:47] So if they want it to pass and it can get to 60 votes in the Senate, then we need to urge President Trump to veto the bill and for the House to go back and add the Save America Act to it and pass it to the Senate. And then let those senators decide how much they want this housing bill passed. So please make those calls to to. Well, I guess it's not making calls right now. It is posting on White House dot gov forward slash contact.

[00:10:16] And also it is posting on social media tagging real Donald Trump. Now, even amid all of that this week, I got to witness something that reminded me of why we fight so hard for this country. And it reminded me of the greatness of our country. On Wednesday night, I was at the opening ceremonies of the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C.

[00:10:38] This is a state fair that is kicking off the Freedom 250 festivities as we head into our 250th anniversary in America. There were four military flyovers. The military band performed. Lee Greenwood sang. President Trump came out to God bless the USA while Lee Greenwood was singing it live.

[00:11:00] President Trump spoke to the crowd and the people who were present are Americans who love this country and wanted to celebrate how wonderful our country is. Then on Thursday morning, I was at the opening of the state fair. I got to ride the Freedom Ferris wheel.

[00:11:17] And you may not know this, but it's the very the very first Ferris wheel was unveiled at the 1893 World's World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It's a world. It was a World's Fair built to celebrate American ingenuity and ambition. So having the Ferris wheel that was first at the World's Fair in Chicago to have that in Washington, D.C.

[00:11:46] for America's 250th anniversary is quite special and quite symbolic. It shows that freedom and ingenuity of the American spirit is alive and well still today. And there were exhibits from different states. The way that it was set up, you have the Capitol and the mall. And on either side of the mall are temporary exhibits, buildings. And inside of the buildings are different seat exhibits.

[00:12:14] They were quite fascinating. In the Georgia exhibit, they were highlighting a lot of things that had to do with the economy in Georgia. Peanuts, Vidalia Onions, Delta Airlines, the poultry industry, the International Shipping Distribution Center in Savannah. Inside the one for Florida, they had manatees and things from the Space Coast and the beauty of Florida.

[00:12:42] In Arizona, they were really highlighting just the natural beauty of Arizona and reasons you should go and visit that state. And each state had different things that they were highlighting. It was really beautiful. There were other exhibits. SpaceX had a visit, I mean, an exhibit. NASA had an exhibit. Moms for, it's not Moms for Liberty, but Moms for America had an exhibit. It was just wonderful.

[00:13:10] And then you've got the Ferris wheel and it's all set against the background and the landscape of the monuments on the mall. So you can see the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. And then yesterday, the basement of the Lincoln Memorial was opened up to the public for the very first time. And I got to go in and see that. It was quite amazing. And I urge you, if you can get to Washington, D.C. while the state fair is going on, I really urge you to go.

[00:13:38] You can see the greatness of America. I'm going to go in and see the great American state fair. And to make sure that when you are celebrating this 4th of July next week, that you celebrate in the most fantastic, extraordinary way. Because 250 years is something we all can agree that is very, very special.

[00:14:27] Washington, D.C. and Scott Labado, my goodness, doing those live paintings and seeing all that he has to showcase and stating that he loves to draw that great American flag. So a wonderful time in Washington, D.C. for America's 250th. Well, thank you, Jenny Beth. Joining me now is Jim Paff, the president of the Conservative Caucus. Jim has spent years, even decades, working within the conservative movement, Congress and the grassroots to advance constitutional government and election integrity.

[00:14:55] Jim, welcome back to the Jenny Beth show. We have 50 senators voting in favor of requiring proof of citizenship to vote. Yet Congress still left town without getting the Save America Act to President Trump's desk. Now, walk us through exactly what happened this week. Well, once again, John Thune continues to say we don't have the votes, we don't have the votes. Well, we know the votes are there. And if there's anyone squishy there, this is what you do in a legislative body.

[00:15:25] You do the things to make that bring people across the finish line. John Thune is not willing to put that effort in. I mean, that's that's the crux of it. All the reasons why are hard to know. But probably the biggest one is these guys don't want to work. And so what happened this week, once again, and it threw senators off guard. Donald Trump, there was going to be a signing ceremony for this housing bill that Jenny Beth referred to earlier.

[00:15:54] And Donald Trump said, you know, I'm postponing the signing ceremony. Senators weren't expecting it. He said that he wasn't going to do anything with it until they move the Save America Act. He put it back up into a high priority. This is one of a few things that he's done to try to get them off the ball and make things happen.

[00:16:13] He said that you need to put earlier, I don't know, a few weeks ago, that the FISA renewal needed to have the Save America Act attached to it. And FISA is the foreign intelligence courts, frankly, that were spying on Donald Trump. But that was always a temporary program because it violates the Constitution. And yet people seem to want this thing really badly.

[00:16:40] And it's about to it's not it's about it's up for renewal and it's about to expire. In fact, I think it actually already has by now. But they wouldn't do that. He's tried a couple other things. And he finally said, I'm not going to pass this housing bill or I'm not going to sign this housing bill until you pass the Save America Act. And John Thune basically gave Donald Trump the middle finger and sent everybody home.

[00:17:03] I mean, it's really crazy in my mind that they that people in Congress think passing this housing bill, which if you really look at it, there are probably a couple good provisions one might like. But the whole thing is a mess. The problem of housing around the country is in the states and it's only in the or the worst part of it's in the blue states. That's where the real problems are.

[00:17:32] But yet we got Republicans working with Democrats to pass a bill to fix problems they cause. Donald Trump called that out and said that I'm not going to be signing it until you can do that. So that's the state of affairs. John Thune sent him home till July 13th. And these guys work two and a half days a week somehow find more weeks to just sit at home. And it starts reminding me, Jim, of Tom Daschle, the gentleman he beat 20 or so years ago.

[00:18:00] He has become that somewhat of a Washington swamp creature. Now, many Americans hear terms like reconciliation, the bird rule and cloture, but they don't really understand how these procedures affect this legislation. Can you explain why it's become so complicated and why we might be looking now at reconciliation 3.0?

[00:18:19] Well, before I get to the reconciliation thing, which is something I apologize for, is that we, you know, what we have here is the filibuster process, which is what basically causes this problem for trying to pass bills.

[00:18:39] Back in the early 1800s, a change in the rules created the filibuster, which allows someone to hold the floor indefinitely as long as they can talk to stop legislation from moving forward. And it's morphed a little bit through the years.

[00:18:55] But in the 1920s, the Senate passed a change of the rules that provides for a procedure called cloture, which is to get the floor back. 60 votes can break the filibuster and move to voting on the bill. And that so what a lot of people in America think this 60 vote thing is, is is the filibuster.

[00:19:22] It's not the filibuster was actually designed to break out of a filibuster, which anyone holding the floor can continue to happen. But so so the challenge is this. There are not going to be 60 votes to pass the Save America Act because Democrats are intransigent. They're not willing to do it, by the way, on a vote that on a bill that 80 percent of the American people want. So now the Republicans have to find a way.

[00:19:50] Well, there are a couple of paths that they can take here. The one path, which Senator Mike Lee righteously has been pushing for for months now, is to just use invoke the regular filibuster. Make Democrats have to talk. The rules say that if you can keep the legislative day going and you do that by recessing by by not recessing at night, but by keeping the floor open to the next day.

[00:20:20] If you have the will to do that and John Thune can do that, then every senator gets two times to talk. And once you've exhausted the two times that each senator can talk, there's a few more details in this, but this is roughly what it is. Then the debate's over and you go right to the vote and it can pass with a simple majority. All you need is J.D. Vance to come in just in case and you can get the bill passed. John Thune doesn't want to do that because it might take weeks to get that done.

[00:20:49] It might take a long time to be long hours to have to get that done as well, too. You're going to be up late at night constantly. But when you have these votes that the American people love and in this particular case and in the era of television and and and social media, when they can see the Republicans are fighting for this thing that they all agree with and want to happen,

[00:21:15] and then whether they succeed or not, they'll stand behind you. They're just looking for people in Congress to do what they want them to do. Instead, Republicans are pushed for a housing bill that no one is even talking about. No one was even caring to happen. And that provides government greater, broader, expansive power over your housing,

[00:21:39] which, by the way, government government regulation over housing in is was a key factor in causing the 2007 2008 financial crisis. So this is the absurdity of Washington, D.C. There are the second path beyond the regular filibuster is to get rid of the filibuster, change the rules. And I'm going to tell you this. Democrats are going to change it when they get the Senate again. They're absolutely going to do it. They're going to shove everything through that they want.

[00:22:06] So I think Donald Trump's argument there is sound, but we would do better just to work with the regular filibuster to show that it can work. So you can you can still have that tool available, which I would hope we could have. So anyway, thank you, Jim. It's good to get that context because there's so much frustration out there. We were talking to citizens out there outside of the great American fair. And you watch as the motorcade goes by.

[00:22:33] And now today, Congressman Byron Donald's upset with how the Senate is proceeding. But President Trump has signaled he's prepared to veto the housing bill unless the Save America Act is included to it. He's the great negotiator. How important is that leverage right now from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? Well, it's critical and it's exactly the leverage that needs to happen for the reasons for many of the reasons I just discussed.

[00:22:59] Republicans are doing something with Democrats because they think that this is what's going to help them in the election because they're going to make Americans feel better that they can buy a house. There was a Zillow report that came out recently that said some 250 municipalities had a home entry price. In other words, a first home entry price of a million dollars. By the way, that data is correct. The only problem is this. Those all those cities are most of them are in California.

[00:23:29] And I think every one of them are in blue states. So the reality is that nationwide, even when you take those blue states into account, the median entry home value is about four hundred thousand dollars. And if you take those states out and go back into most of the other red states, it's closer to about two hundred thousand.

[00:23:50] In other words, most Americans can buy a house if they want to, except in blue states where they are, where their regulations and their rancid policies that are destroying their local economies that are causing people to leave blue states in droves are causing those housing prices to either stay higher or get higher. And yet so Republicans are trying to help Democrats, in effect, to try to win an election on an issue that could never win an election at all.

[00:24:18] Because, I mean, it's an important issue, but no one's talking about it. So, I mean, this Washington, D.C. works just the opposite of what the American people want. The reason Donald Trump ever got elected is because that is a reality. I spent eight years on the Hill working for a couple of different members of Congress till about 2017, 18.

[00:24:42] And I can tell you, it is a disaster in that town and it hasn't changed. That's why Donald Trump came to Washington, D.C. and was elected. So for him to veto the housing bill goes right at the heart of the very problem that is frustrating Americans. And I think you ought to veto it no matter what and just say, listen, you guys aren't going to do anything else. I'm not giving you anything until you pass the Save America Act.

[00:25:11] And that kind of pressure, I think, actually is helpful right now. I don't know that we're going to get past the finish line. But if we can, it's because Donald Trump's doing this. And with the help of people like Mike Lee, who have been making this issue for a long time, who knows? Maybe we can get it done. And on top of all this, Scott Pressler being turned away from the South Dakota Republican dinner after becoming a national story almost overnight. He had this ticket, Jim.

[00:25:38] What does this tell us about the tension between grassroots conservatives and parts of the Republican establishment? Well, the story is, as I hear it, and I think we, Ginny Beth alluded to it earlier, maybe, is John Thune's people were the ones that were working this behind the scenes. This is how crazy these people are. I mean, literally, John Thune is insane. Everybody that supports John Thune and most of the leadership in Washington, D.C. Trust me, I worked around these people.

[00:26:07] I mean, I'm not saying this off my cuff because I'm angry. I worked on Capitol Hill for years. I know many of these people. And I'm telling you, they are literally insane when it comes to politics because everything that they value is almost, in every case, exactly the opposite of what the American people value. They're that out of touch with it. So John Thune, he doesn't, this is the thing.

[00:26:32] This is why you have to consider that John Thune's desire not to pass the Save America Act is at best because he doesn't like Donald Trump and at worst because there's something very corrupt and nefarious taking place. And I would tend towards some level of corruption that's behind it, none of which I know right now, but I know it's an 80% issue. And John Thune does too.

[00:26:58] So his argument is insane and goes against what we all know can happen. The Democrats passed Obamacare. Let's just consider this for a second. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid made sure that Obamacare got passed. They were that intent on making sure that it got over the finish line. And they twisted arms. And frankly, they knew that many of their members were going to lose in the next election. And the Tea Party movement happened. And they did.

[00:27:28] But it didn't matter. Democrats knew if they could pass it that the bill would stay around and they'd be able to twist it and turn it to their liking in the future. And guess what? Here we are 16 years later, more than 16 years later, and Obamacare is still in effect and it's still being used as a political tool. So that's what we also have to have the courage to do, is to know that the Save America Act is existential for America.

[00:27:56] We can go through a lot of political problems and endure them. I mean, just think of the Civil War. We survived the Civil War. That's one of the worst political problems that we've ever had in this country. We can survive those things. Maybe at dear cost, but we can do it. We cannot survive having our elections be the way they are in California and are propagating around the country. That's the other story. Everyone has seen how bad California is.

[00:28:23] Folks, there are states adopting various aspects of California election law right now. And we have to stop that. The Save America Act goes a long, long way to reversing that trend. President Lincoln was correct, Jim, when he said we can only be destroyed from within. And when you have representatives like Nancy Pelosi 16 years ago stating, you have to see what's in the bill after we pass it, that truly is the problem. So with all that in mind, what message do you think Republican leadership should be hearing

[00:28:52] right now from the grassroots activists today? Well, as Jenny Beth was saying earlier, and we're telling our people to do the same thing, veto the bill. Veto the housing bill. You will destroy the thing that they feel really good about. Like Republicans and Democrats get their jollies over passing housing bills. They love when they can say that they did something in Washington, D.C. Most of the American people don't care what Washington, D.C. does.

[00:29:21] They want Washington, D.C. to get out of the way. So that's the first message that we can send. The next message that we can send is people do need to call their representative and tell them we're done with it. Flood their phones. Tell them I'm going into Fourth of July weekend and I'm going to take a little time that I'd rather be relaxing to tell you to just stop it. We're tired of the games that you play and we want it to change now.

[00:29:50] Phone calls do make a big difference in Washington. They don't change the whole game, but they remind people on Capitol Hill that folks were engaged. And for those who are our friends on Capitol Hill trying to do the right thing, the Mike Lees of the world, the Chip Roy's, the even on this particular issue, Mike Johnson, I have to give the speaker a whole lot of credit. They've continued to try to pass this bill.

[00:30:17] But there's one other thing that you need to tell your representatives and make this very clear. Reconciliation is not going to get the Save America Act done. There will be a few little things that can be helpful. But for people to understand, this idea of putting it in reconciliation, all that's going to do is provide money to implement certain things, but no requirement to implement it because you cannot pass policy.

[00:30:47] What the Save America Act does is what is provided for in Article 1, Section 4, Clause 1 of the Constitution, which says that states determine how they're going to run their elections, but that Congress has a right to regulate how elections are run except for the choosing of senators. So we are not going to get 50 states to do what needs to be done to put our election law

[00:31:14] right back to where it was about 20 years ago. Let's consider this for a moment. The way we run elections right now, for 230 years of our history, we never came close to doing. We had little tweaks here and there in election law, but we never ran elections like we are right now. The only reason Democrats are capable of gaining and maintaining elective office in many areas of this country is because our election laws are screwy. They're messed up.

[00:31:43] We don't have custody of ballots. We don't have same-day elections. We count votes in some states, and hopefully the Supreme Court will overturn it this week or next week. We have—this week, actually, I think—we have elections that are counted days and days afterwards. We never did that in our country's history. We had the best, worst voting system in world history. You know, Winston Churchill said that democracy is the worst form of government man ever created,

[00:32:12] except for all the rest. Well, we had the best election system that mankind has ever created, except for all the rest. And it was the gold standard so that you could not have an election in a third-world country if you wanted to prove you were having something legitimate without having American election watchers. That's how good we were at it. It's only changed in the last 20 years because Democrats have been able to twist courts to do—and some legislatures—to do things that totally allow what would typically be called

[00:32:43] fraud to be done legally. Save America Act is the only thing that's going to do that across the country, and the American people need it. If we cannot fix this, we will lose this country. I'm not saying we might. I'm not saying we'll be on the razor's edge. We will. It's inevitable because once you get the Zoran Bamdani crew elected around the country through bad elections, you ain't going back. You can't win it back except by war or something like that. It's that extreme.

[00:33:12] That's what's at stake. And guys like John Thune are either totally corrupt or totally stupid not to understand that. Well, it's crucial, Jim. You are correct on that. And President Carter in his retirement, along with First Lady Rosalind Carter, ensuring free and fair elections around the world. But some big rulings from SCOTUS for POTUS. Why are the Supreme Court rulings this week so significant from a constitutional standpoint, especially on the immigration cases?

[00:33:41] Well, the immigration cases have some of the most clear and bright constitutional lines and legal lines based on the law that's been passed by Congress that of many of the other ones that have come out during this session of the Supreme Court. So one of the things that was ruled on yesterday was that temporary protected status, the status

[00:34:05] that allows people, for the most part, there are a few other nuances of it, to claim asylum coming into this country that the president has the right to revoke temporary protected status. Now, this would seem obvious to anyone else than a bunch of Democrats, I guess, and even some Republicans, because it is a temporary status, one.

[00:34:30] Two, when you read the law very clearly, there is no normal adjudication process for a non-citizen to keep temporary protected status. This is something that Congress, by law, put in the hands of the administration to adjudicate. The president of the United States, clearly from the law, has the right to determine if

[00:34:57] protected status can be given or if it can be taken away for any reason. So the Supreme Court laid the gauntlet down on this, and you had three leftist judges that went apoplectic over it. But the law, I mean, it's absolutely clear on this, that it's the president who decides after the attorney general lays out the, you know, makes the order, like the attorney general

[00:35:29] processes on behalf of the administration the say on whether this status is there. And there's no appeal to that in our regular court system. Democrats have won an appeal in our regular court system. The law doesn't allow for that. And we do know that many people were given temporary protected status. They had no need for it. This is a situation where people who are truly in harm's way and could die could be given status.

[00:35:57] There's no requirement to grant such status, even under those circumstances. But ostensibly, that was the reason that Congress provided for the administration to decide. So the justices affirm that today, and Democrats and people on the left, even Michael Aller of New York are going crazy over it. And what do these decisions tell us about the court's willingness to rein in lower federal courts that have attempted time and again to block executive authority?

[00:36:27] Well, I'm glad you said it in that way, because I did leave one aspect of it out. The Supreme Court said you cannot appeal to courts on this issue. There is no appeal in our court system. And that has been a real problem in our judiciary. You know, we already have an overloaded judicial system just from the normal things that go through it.

[00:36:49] But if you're going to allow millions of people here on temporary status, and I think the estimates are around one to two million of them are here under that status. If you're going to allow them to flood the court system, there's no way that that could get done. And it will keep them here for years if they were required to process in that way. But the Supreme Court made it very clear they cannot do that.

[00:37:17] And what this all says, what this all does is it reaffirms the very thing that Donald Trump has been calling for for a long period of time that we know by polls is broadly accepted by Americans, they consider it a matter of fairness, particularly Americans, citizens who came here and had to go through the immigration process to obtain citizenship, particularly

[00:37:43] if they are Hispanic descent, that you see large numbers of people of Hispanic descent who are now citizens and came through the immigration process who do not support these things in large numbers. And there's a reason for that. The American people, for all of our faults, the American people really do emphasize fairness. If you're going to do something, you ought to do it the right way. And if you didn't do it the right way, there ought to be some consequence, whether that's

[00:38:13] a social consequence or a legal one, civil or criminal. American people are eminently fair and still are, thankfully, because that's why I have hope for the future as we go into July 4th and think of where we're at. So that's that is I mean, listen, we've got that marker laid. The American people support it. Donald Trump has been pushing for it. They elected him to office. This was the right decision on the merits to go against it.

[00:38:42] It should have been a 9-0 decision. I mean, it's so obvious. But you've got people who don't want are so relativistic that truth doesn't matter anymore. It's what they want to accomplish through policy. And that is not a fair system. And that is the greatest risk that we have is people who have been been able to gain political power such that they just do something that violates the rules and get by with it. We have got to readjust that in this country.

[00:39:11] These Supreme Court decisions on immigration help in that regard. And the temporary protected status was truly never, to your point, Jim, intended to become permanent immigration status. So why is this ruling and the others that have happened this week so important for restoring the original intent and the letter of the law?

[00:39:32] Well, it now gives a more clear path for Donald Trump to do the proper deportations that he ought to be doing. It allows future presidents who are going to handle the immigration policies correctly to know that they have the tools to do that.

[00:39:55] That if something happens, unlike Biden running millions and millions of people into this country, sometimes immigration waves happen and there's no particular reason for it or no way to understand it. It's going to give a future president the tools to deal with that. The other thing is this. If we are successful in electing, say, a J.D.

[00:40:20] Vance or a Marco Rubio or a Ron DeSantis in 2028, then what the Trump administration will not have been able to clean up can continue to be cleaned up. So this becomes a very important short and long-term issue. It sets aside a lot of these cases in lower courts that have been hampering the Trump administration's efforts to deal with this situation. And it's going to give tools moving forward. They're going to allow future presidents to do the same if they have the willingness to do so.

[00:40:50] And the Supreme Court also striking down Hawaii's carry default law. What message does it send about the Second Amendment and that it is truly in the Bill of Rights? It's God given. And you have so many of these states trying to treat it as not the thing that is the Second Amendment. Well, going back to the Heller decision in 2010 and further back, this reaffirms what the

[00:41:17] court has been doing for some time now, which is to assert that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right. It is not a granted right from the states. What I would argue and I think is and should be the law, it is the constitutional law, but it should be the actual law is that the Second Amendment is my right to carry. I shouldn't have to get a permit to carry a firearm at all.

[00:41:45] Not that I have to carry a firearm, but if I want to, I should be able to because the Constitution says I can. That we're doing a really good job in the court through some difficult trials along the way when you did not have conservative majorities in it, even as far back as the Heller decision, the court has been reaffirming this because it's so clearly laid out in the Constitution. The only way you can misunderstand the Second Amendment is to do so purposefully.

[00:42:14] And that is what Hawaii attempted to do because you had the Bruin decision not long ago, which reaffirmed the individual right to keep and bear arms. They were trying to find, Hawaii was trying to find a work around that using some other doctrine of law to try to stop people's capability to carry arms.

[00:42:38] And specifically what the Hawaii law did is it said you cannot take a gun on private property that is put out in the public. In other words, a restaurant that an individual owns and operates that provides public services. Their law said you cannot take that firearm on that private property unless given the explicit permission to do so.

[00:43:03] And of course, almost every business that's out there is private property that provides public services. So now you just have a big difficulty. Now, Hawaii already restricts government properties from being able to carry a firearm. So if you take all the government properties away and all the public-facing private properties, you in effect make everything a gun-free zone.

[00:43:33] And that was what they were attempting to do on the basis. Their anchor was the private property of that owner having to say, yes, you may. But that does not vitiate the right of the Second Amendment. That's what the court said. That right to keep and bear arms is there. There was never any provision or any language in the Second Amendment that makes any, you know,

[00:44:00] takes into account in any way where you're doing that. It says you may. And that you have the explicit right. So the court reaffirmed that. And there are going to be more cases like this coming because Bruin really set back a lot of these leftist laws that were violating the Second Amendment. And a lot of these workaround laws have been happening.

[00:44:25] Just look for a handful, dozen, maybe even as many as a dozen of these to keep coming down over the next year or two. The rights come from God, not from government. And Pastor Jensen Franklin opened up that Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C. with a keynote prayer reminding us of the power of Leviticus, our biblical foundation, our Christian roots, and proclaiming liberty to the captives. So we have a clip. Let's take a look.

[00:44:50] Being from eastern North Carolina as a child, I was raised near Fort Bragg that is now Fort Liberty. And when I heard that jet fly over, I immediately went back to my childhood when they used to have around the airplane base there signs on the interstate that said, pardon the noise, it's the sound of freedom.

[00:45:18] In the book of Leviticus chapter 25 and verse 10, the Bible says, proclaim liberty throughout all the land and to the inhabitants thereof. God let us know in that scripture that liberty and freedom are His gift to us.

[00:45:43] I'm going to ask you to do what our forefathers did, like George Washington when he kneeled in the snow and prayed with the troops, like the pilgrims at Plymouth Rock when they bowed down and prayed at the very beginning days of the birth of this nation. God breathed life into this nation, and He's not done yet.

[00:46:12] Lord, we come again on this 250th birthday, and we thank you for this nation. Please breathe on America again. Lord, let your grace begin to cover this nation like never before. And lastly, oh God, we ask you to send revival to the churches across America until there is a proclamation.

[00:46:37] Let freedom ring from addiction, from fear, from anxiety, and from shame and guilt because of what you have provided through grace and through your salvation. In your mighty name we pray, amen. Amen. A wonderful reminder of these 250 years and beyond.

[00:47:00] Jim, how does that remind us of the fight that we have before us as we secure constitutional governance in this republic once again? Well, the only way we can maintain governance is through respect for our God-given rights as having come from the Creator Himself and are sustained by Him when a country seeks to honor Him in the way that they act and operate.

[00:47:30] I've been reading in Deuteronomy lately, and Moses, just before he sent Joshua off to send Israel into the land, gave stern, stern warnings against violating God's law and thinking that they were going to be able to maintain their country. In fact, he predicted rightly that they would violate, and specifically speaking in God's words, God knew that they were going to violate all that.

[00:47:59] The reality is that a nation that may not be perfectly good in every way because we are flawed human beings who have our failings, but every nation that seeks to honor God, he will honor back in some form or fashion.

[00:48:18] I'm convinced that there are many things in this country that have helped us create the prosperity and the liberty that we've been able to enjoy, and that is fundamentally, in a fundamental way, founded upon how we put our nation together.

[00:48:39] Free market economics was endemic in our structure because private property was asserted, clearly from the very beginning of our foundation. We had a good moral base that allowed our culture to act in a way with one another that was generally respectful. Again, obviously with flaws.

[00:49:01] I mean, we had slaves in the early part of our nation, but we also had areas of our country that had said we're not going to have slaves. And the heart of what we set up can be really duly expressed in Thomas Jefferson's first draft of the Declaration of Independence, where he scolded the King of England for foisting the slave trade upon the United States.

[00:49:27] I mean, a lot of people don't know this, but it was Jefferson's intent to say that very thing as one of the main grievances laid out in the Declaration of Independence. We did, as a country, understand that God created human beings, that he sustains them when they obey him, that he judges nations that turn away from him.

[00:49:50] One of the great reasons for the consistent calls to prayer that almost every president from the founding of our country has provided, until very recently, frankly, were done because God knows that judgment or people knew that judgment can come from God.

[00:50:13] Abraham Lincoln referred to this in his second inaugural address, that both sides of the conflict were guilty, and that for every lash of the whip on a slave, there has been a lash of the sword on both sides of the country. We knew that God's judgment could come. We also knew his blessing could come for those who seek them. So I've maintained for many years, we need a third great awakening in this country. I pray that we could have that.

[00:50:43] But we need to, as people of faith, recognize, again, that this country was founded on the Judeo-Christian ethic and insights from the Mosaic Law, and that because we did it in that fashion, we were able to build something of value, something that could be sustained, and that to sustain it, we personally need to turn away from what we do that is wrong

[00:51:12] and turn towards God's law and remember what matters there. Both the firm aspects of following his law, which is to speak out against culture when it goes wrong, and the general cultural aspects of that, where we just do good in society, and we need to take government out of the picture and put it back into ourselves honoring him. That's our hope for a future in this nation,

[00:51:41] and it's what we should be considering as we go into our July 4th weekend. Yes, I could not have said it better, Jim, myself. Thank you for that wonderful reminder, the great awakening and the survival we're experiencing right now, 250 years next week to celebrate the birthday of America. [00:53:59] Also a hung jury out west in California right now as the Pacific Palisades fires, a jury not coming to an agreement on that arraignment hearing.
