Mamdani's Housing Plan: A Soviet Exile on Who Decides Who Gets What | Dr. Yuri Yarim-Agaev

Mamdani's housing plan asks the Soviet question, says a physicist the KGB expelled: who decides who gets what? Not voters, not merit. A small clique.

Jenny Beth Martin asks Dr. Yuri Yarim-Agaev what he would say to the people talking about housing right now. She sees two things in it: the claim of an affordability crisis, which carries the communist motto of to each according to his needs, and, in Zohran Mamdani's plan for New York, a seizure of private property dressed up as a utility or a basic human right. A house you do not have to pay for is a house you do not get to choose. It is given to you.

Dr. Yarim-Agaev, a physicist who joined the Moscow Helsinki Group inside the Soviet Union and was expelled by the KGB in 1980, says the property is only half of it. The more important half is that he will decide how it is distributed. The key question in his whole program is who will control it, and the mechanism is the totalitarian one: not decided democratically, not by the merits of the people, not by their means, but by a small, closed clique who decide who gets what. That, he says, is the Soviet Union and China.

Then he gives the Soviet economy in one number. It was more than 90 percent taxation, hidden and never declared. People were paid less than 10 percent of what they earned, and the government handed the rest back by its own rules and by loyalty. Mamdani's plan, he says, is very similar: take as much as possible, then redistribute it by their rules. The middle class is completely out of it. Big cities already repel the middle class, and the middle class is the nucleus of the city; every city was built by it. Push out what remains and New York becomes a city of welfare or the very rich, which is unhealthy for any city.

Guest: Dr. Yuri Yarim-Agaev, physicist, Soviet dissident and member of the Moscow Helsinki Group, expelled from the Soviet Union in 1980, founder of the Center for Democracy in the USSR, who briefed President Ronald Reagan before Reykjavik and before his trip to Moscow and worked as a scientist at MIT and Stanford.

In this segment:

• An affordability crisis, or a seizure of private property?
• A house you do not pay for is a house you do not choose
• He will decide how it is distributed: who controls it?
• Not democratically, not by merit, not by means: a small clique decides
• The Soviet economy in one number: more than 90 percent hidden taxation
• Take as much as possible, then redistribute by their rules
• The middle class is the nucleus of the city, and it is the first to go

Share this with someone in a city that is pricing out the middle class. Then vote for liberty, for our constitutional republic, and against communism. Watch the full interview, part two of two, on The Jenny Beth Show channel, and subscribe for daily analysis from Tea Party Patriots Action.
