Joe Biden used to say this is not your grandfather's Republican party, and Robert McNeely flips it: this is not the party of John F. Kennedy, and it is not the party of Jimmy Carter either.
Stacy Washington's read is about image management. AOC is finding her footing for 2028, which is why the walk-backs are timed the way they are, including the retreat on defunding the police. Her comparison is Barack Obama, and she is careful about how she means it. Obama ran as the moderate who just wanted hope and change, and the second term is where the mask came off. AOC is that, multiplied.
Then Jenny Beth Martin makes the argument that does not depend on anybody's motives. Members of Congress take an oath to uphold the Constitution. The Democratic Socialists of America is not shy about what it wants: radically restructure the Supreme Court, eliminate the presidency, eliminate the Senate and replace the whole thing with a single chamber. That is not a constitutional government. And the organization's own website still calls for abolishing the police and abolishing prisons, which is a matter of public record rather than interpretation.
Her closing line is the one to keep. You do not have to guess what a politician believes when they have paid dues to an organization that publishes its platform.
