South Dakota didn't wait for Washington to act on election integrity. They passed SB 175, a proof-of-citizenship voter registration law signed with an emergency clause, which means it will be in effect for the 2026 primary elections.
In this segment, South Dakota State Senator Greg Blanc joins Jenny Beth Martin to explain how his state pushed the legislation across the finish line, the vote margins in the Senate and House, and the message he wants to send to his fellow South Dakotan Senator John Thune about the SAVE America Act.
Senator Blanc is an ordained pastor, a 21-year police chaplain with the Rapid City Police Department, and an active member of the South Dakota State Senate representing District 35. He was elected by 15 points in 2024 and is running again in District 35.
Senator Blanc also discusses:
• Why "common sense isn't that common anymore" on voter integrity
• The Pew Research poll showing over 80% of Americans and over 70% of Democrats support voter ID
• How the "moderate" wing receives outside Democrat money to primary true conservatives
• Why state-level action is critical when the federal level stalls
