A lot of people vote every time there is a president on the ballot and sit out the midterms. This clip is about chasing those votes. In the opening segment of her solo get-out-the-vote training, Jenny Beth Martin walks through the texting system at TPP.me/text, which runs in the web browser on your phone or computer, takes about five minutes to set up, and after that is a matter of pressing buttons.
The steps, as she shows them on screen: go to TPP.me/text and enter your first name, last name, email, cell number, and zip code, then submit. Every sign-up is approved by hand, so the email with your temporary login may take a little while. Sign in with it, press New Message, wait for the conversations to load, and a voter's name, number, and a prefilled text appear. Press Send, and the next voter loads. Then the next, and the next. If a voter replies, the team sees it on the back end and answers, so every voter who writes back gets a real conversation.
She also says when to do it: in the carpool line, at the bus stop, in line at the grocery store, or in the long wait before the doors open at a rally. Send, send, send. Each message is one more reminder to a voter who needs several, and the people who skip midterms are the ones a reminder reaches.
Sign up at TPP.me/text. If you need help, email support@teapartypatriots.org. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
Jenny Beth Martin is co-founder of the Tea Party movement and Chairman of Tea Party Patriots Action.
