Democratic Socialists Want to Abolish the Senate: This Is Not the Tea Party | Kerpen

The Democratic Socialists of America want the Senate abolished, the Electoral College gone, and the Supreme Court under the thumb of Congress.
That is not a caricature. It is in their manifesto. Robert McNeily walks through what the Democratic Socialists of America have published on their own website: they want the Senate gone because they consider direct democracy more democratic, they want the presidency gone, they want Article One turned into a unicameral superpower, and they want the Court stacked, an ambition inside the Democratic Party going back to FDR.
Phil Kerpen of American Commitment draws the line the press keeps refusing to draw. The Tea Party movement wanted to restore the American system of government. This movement wants to replace it. And it is not just the constitutional structure. Kerpen explains the difference between a traditional Democratic economic agenda, which piled on regulations and taxes while insisting business could live with it, and a DSA agenda that answers "great, we want them out of business, government should take it over." Look at rent control in New York City under Mamdani, he says, and ignore the fact that city-owned housing is a disaster.
Jenny Beth Martin closes with what the polling shows and why separating socialist nominees from traditional Democrats is the work between now and November.
