The resolution on the House floor this week does two things at once. It condemns socialism, and it calls on Congress to pass the SAVE America Act — the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act — which requires proof of citizenship to register and photo identification to vote. Not one Democrat on the Rules Committee would advance it. Then they wrote their own version. Theirs still condemns socialism, in different words, and it no longer contains the sentence requiring you to prove you are a citizen before you register. Tea Party Patriots Action has spent two and a half years on that sentence, and it started with one question asked on a January 2024 coalition conference call with Senator Mike Lee.
